I thought maybe they would fly him in for the surgery- it has been done before. But I am sure there are great surgeons nearby at Alamo Pintado.

I think only 2 screws are below him, it's non-displaced (kidding, but serious. . .).

I think what katmandu meant is that Mastery's surgery is not so major that they would need to fly someone in from Kentucky to handle it. "Just two" screws probably means that, as surgery on a horse goes, it will be fairly simple.
Fingers crossed. Even 'simple' surgery on a horse can come with complications.

Yes, that is what I mean, but of course horses come with all sorts of warning labels (or should). . . .

And of course not all "simple surgeries" make it back to the track, even with best intentions. Afleet Alex comes to mind.

Baffert: Mastery surgery "went very well"

Trainer Bob Baffert reports that surgery on Mastery performed this afternoon at Santa Anita "went very well" and that the 3-year-old colt is back in his stall at Baffert's barn at Santa Anita.

I've found it easier to tear up tickets at 8/1 instead of 8/5.

Great! Thanks for the update. I wonder when Arrogate will arrive in Dubai? And when Bob will travel there?
