I see that this trial will occur at night. Has Chautauqua ever raced at night under the lights? If this is going to be a new experience for him, will that be a good thing...or bad...as far as getting him to break promptly? :?
Also, if the card is being run on an Australian Friday night, I would think that it would be on our (US) Thursday night of Oz racing coverage. TVG does show racing from Down Under on Thursday evenings, so we may get to see Chautauqua's trial live.
Yes he has raced a few times at night and won at least one (maybe 2) G1 Manikato Stakes which is run at 10pm the night before the Cox Plate at Moonee Valley

I'm not making any picks because every time I do that, the pick loses. If I don't voice my picks they will win. Silly superstition I know.

I thought Cloud Computing and Tamarkuz would upset their big races, but I never voiced that opinion, and they won.

Chautauqua trials in about 3.5 hours at the same track where all these serious barrier issues started

Though you don't see him in the gates you can see his frustration afterwards. There was a lot of controversy about the vet scratching him here

Chautauqua to trial Friday night (Aus time), with no trials scheduled in Melbourne until mid October, Stewards have announced a special trial between races to accomodate Chautauqua

https://www.racingvictoria.com.au/news/ ... his-friday

I could be wrong but I think it was this meeting last year that started his barrier issues
Not wrong. It was this meeting when he was scratched at the barrier.

I would guess that there's a Fresno fair meet.
Yep...here's the card for Saturday:

I hope Masochistic has a safe race.

It's part of the California Fairs circuit that seems to be always fighting with Stronach (Goldren Gate) on various issues each year, eg stabling, simulcast, dates. I guess we haven't been posting enough of those articles.

The Fresno fair has been around and has conducted racing for quite a few decades. The city of Fresno is as close to Los Angeles as it is the Bay Area. Most of Team Stronach’s grumblings have been about the summer dates though I’m sure he’d gladly take these dates too. Fresno is part of the California Association of Racing Fairs (CARF) as is Pleasanton, Sacramento and Ferndale but by proximity, it’s pretty isolated.

From the BH article:
"Will said to give him one shot to see if his heart is still in it," said Mulhall, the architect of Masochistic's training regimen, which doesn't have the gelding go through conventional daily gallops, but allows him to breeze and pony around the track. "He's doing really well and working really well. He's acting like he still wants to do it. He's aggressive, he's eating, and he looks good.

"We were looking for the easiest spot possible for him."

The group of six California-breds for the six-furlong dirt sprint features two other stakes winners—Intimidate and Isa Firecracker—but neither comes close to Masochistic's back class. But that's exactly what it is—back class. In two starts this year, when he was trained by Bob Baffert, Masochistic was not competitive.

"If we can get him out to the lead, he's going to be super, super fresh," Mulhall said of the speedster, who last reached the winner's circle in the 2016 Pat O'Brien Stakes (G2). "If he's the same horse and he likes this type of training, they shouldn't catch him. If his heart isn't in it, he'll run like he has (in 2018)."
