Green Mask, a 6 year old gelding, sustained a career ending sesamoid fracture injury and will have surgery at New Bolton
Praying he can recover and live a good life. Very sad.

Oh what a shame. Sure hope he makes it.

Page McKenney just won the 1 1/16-mile Pa Derby Champion Stakes, holding off all the more-fancied (and mostly younger) challengers to win by what looked like a long neck. What a trouper!

Los Al: Pender considers retirement for 9yo Luckarack
Luckarack, the 9-year-old gelding who finished fourth at the 4-5 favorite in Saturday's fourth race, may have run his last race.
Trainer and co-owner Mike Pender said Luckarack will become a stable pony eventually. Saturday's loss against $6,250 claimers could hasten the transition.
"I want to make him into my stable pony," Pender said after the race. "If he wants to run again, he will. His racing career is winding down.'

I really hope this venerable, $630,000-earning gelding has run his last race. I watched the race and he had no kick in the stretch...against horses he should have easily beaten. :(
