Trainers always say their horses can rate.

Just read it over on DRF, I'm not surprised given the dirt runners in his pedigree and his bullet works on the dirt at SA.

For those who might not know his pedigree is 12f turf horse Temple City (Dynaformer) x Danzig mare on top, Chief Seattle (Seattle Slew) dam sire, Vice Regent (Northern Dancer) tail end sire.

Temple City may have had his success on the turf, but his dam is a half to Malibu Moon. Lots of dirt in his pedigree.

Distance shouldn't be a problem, esp. with Dynaformer on the top line. Bolo's dam has 3 runners of 5 of racing age, and she's a half to Mining My Own (dam of Mine That Bird and Dullahan). However, it's the damsire's family that may be the most influential. Chief Seattle is by Seattle Slew out of an Icecapade mare. Both Slew's dam (My Charmer) and Icecapade's dam (Shenanigans) are considered double copy mares for the X factor genes. That means that, if the pattern holds, Chief Seattle would've passed it to his daughter, who, in turn, may have passed it to Bolo (as the theory is that the gene goes from sire to filly and from filly to her son).

Not really that provable, but something interesting, for sure!

They still think he'll take to the dirt?

It's 2017 and he's still around and still good. That was a pretty good field. Who wudda thunk it?

When he's good, he's really good. I hope to see more from this guy this year. That was a pretty decent field he beat!

I thought this guy was gone (or maybe I just thought he should be!) - anyway, on the work tab. I always thought he had some talent.

I'd forgotten about him, but it's always nice to see an old face back on the worktab. Is he still entire?
