Does anyone know what happened to CC's former exercise rider, Willie Delgato?

Obviously, his front is continually expanding while his rear shrinks. That's why his saddle slipped.

Sure looks like a racehorse. Looks good after shipping, too.

They want $2 million to run at Del Mar for the Pacific Classic.

“The Pacific Classic is on our agenda,” said Art Sherman, California Chrome’s trainer, on Monday, “but we hope they raise the purse to $2 million. That would get us there.

“There are a lot of other tracks out there that want us.”

Gosh, Art Sherman is starting to sound like Perry Martin. Just say no Del Mar.

Just plain greed - focus on the horse - Maybe just a bit on his home town fans? AbsurdAND disappointing that they are focused on money rather than the horse
May they run with the WIND

I don't get it, they just won a f'n $10M race and rather than having a nice homecoming for his actual fans they pull this, I hope Del Mar says no. How often does this happen? I know Oaklawn increased the purse for the Apple Blossom but that was for the big showdown (and as an enticement for others to show up as well I think, not a demand)

I'm not sure the connections realize that it isn't industry standard for owners to ask (or expect) tracks to boost the purse for almost all of the races their horse is aimed at. Though for this team they usually only make the gate for 25% of the races that they actually talk about racing in.

Is Art implying there are a LOT of other tracks that are dangling big bucks, millions, around the time of the Pacific Classic? A LOT of tracks? Really?
