The great Hong Kong miler, Able Friend, has suffered an 'injury setback,' and is done for the season. The big chestnut is to be sent to Australia (since Hong Kong has no actual farms) for turnout and rehabilitation.

Rapper Dragon's Biggest Challenge to Come in HK Derby

The big international group 1 races looming on the horizon are all well and good, but the March 19 BMW Hong Kong Derby is the one the locals crave—for the purse and for the bragging rights at stake in the 140th running of the race.

I set my alarm clock to get up and watch this race.

Rapper Dragon won the Hong Kong Derby, the classic series for 4 year olds, with Pakistan Star running 2nd. J. Moreira in the irons.
Beauty Generation ran third. Lots of excitement and cheering. Gotta love how the crowd loves their horse racing.

The horses looked so good. I love Hong Kong racing, and esp. Jenny Chapman...best analyst ever. The camera work at Sha Tin is super clear and well done, compared to here, IMHO.
