And there's a simply stunning looking, elegant appy gelding whose body shape looks like a standardbred. He's a driving horse that came out of Amish country. https://www.facebook.com/CamelotHorseWe ... =1&theater SOLD

And so, so many others!

Remarkably, a great many of the horses and other equines that were left over from auctions at Cranbury Sales Stable did find a new home today. One more (the mare with foal at her side) is scheduled to be pulled first thing tomorrow morning by a New Jersey rescue, and a CT rescue (Beech Brook Farm) is still fundraising for mini mare #43 (PP address beechbrookfarm@yahoo.com; per BBF, they will refund donations if they cannot gather sufficient funds to pull the mini mare).

The ones still waiting are:

bay gelding #64 (from 8/12) SOLD
hackney gelding # 39 and #34(from 9/2) SOLD
the pretty paint mare #30 (from 9/2) SOLD
chestnut standardbred gelding #8 (from 8/26) SOLD
chestnut standardbred gelding #9 (from 8/26) still available
the mule team #24 and#25 (from 9/2) SOLD
the spotted donkey stud driving team #12 and #13 (from 8/26) SOLD
the two mini mares #43 and #46. (from 9/2) SOLD

The message relayed via one of the buyers was that the cut off time will be 9 am Sunday (and not 2 pm as normally), and that any animals unsold by then would get shipped back to New Holland.

They'd been locked in shanty-type stalls with ceilings so low they couldn't fully raise their heads; the stalls hadn't been cleaned in months, and they are seriously malnourished.

Police are looking for the owners so that the horses can be legally surrendered to the SPCA; and they can be charged.

Silver and Smoke's breeder took her back. I don't know about the other two.

Just puzzled how the filly ended up in that horrific situation. The article mentioned the breeder taking her back when she suffered an injury as a 2YO, but then from there it goes to the South Florida shantytown. If the breeder adopted the horse out to what seemed like an upstanding, responsible, compassionate adopter, she should say, if nothing else, to stop this person.
Looks like the breeder, bred her after getting her back to health.

She just reduced the price on him by half (now $1500), had to pull his shoes because she states she can't afford to keep him shod. Getting very nervous for him, wonder if she would agree to give him to Akindale?

This is concerning, especially when she says, "but time is running out." There are so many options for her to give Fourseventeen a good home. Sure hope she doesn't do anything foolish. Wish I could help.

I contacted Akindale- they did contact her, as well as former connections. Fingers crossed!

Sounds like she wants the money so she can get her truck fixed. "If not sold within a 2 weeks I'll keep him." Maybe former connections would pay for him. He does look like a happy and healthy boy. Sure hope this works out well for him.

A former owner did offer to by him, just under her asking price. She said that a friend of hers was going to take him, and that she could possibly get him back at some point.
Last I saw, she was waiting for a check to clear for the sale. I REALLY hope that he will be ok, will try and keep an eye out on him as best I can. At work today, twice with adding some columns, it totaled 417- I kid you not. I feel good that I did what I could for him, hoping for the best.

Food for thought.

The one that got away
I lost a horse once. It was both heartbreaking, devastating, and alarming – but more importantly, I had absolutely no idea how to solve the problem. He was gone from the equine stratosphere, and no amount of internet or Facebook searches led me to his re-discovery. To compound my grief and disparity, I was tightly linked to his breeder, his race owner, and his trainer. I knew his every connection, and had great respect for each. And yet I knew that if he did resurface, and resurfaced in a less than ideal location, it would be each of them that would catch the heat – not me. More importantly, not the people that put him directly there.
