Re: Older Horses - 2019

Not sure I understand why a horse happily galloping around in the paddock doesn't qualify for retraining for a second career (a not sound horse should be retired - period) vs. goes back to track.

I always liked this horse, he's out of Tepin's dam.

Re: Older Horses - 2019

Heart to Heart loses photo for 2nd in a hard luck 3rd in Tropical Park Turf. Mr. Freeze, breaking to his inside, caused problems in the gate and H t H had a lunging start which left him mid pack after Mr. Freeze then carried him out to the middle of the track on the first turn. Swung to the outside ...

Beautiful hip and shoulder on that filly. On a side note, Lisa's Booby Trap sire, Drewman, is a half to Lucky Pulpit, Chrome's sire.

Me: Big fields, lots of well-known names, even a MSW for 2yos that may show off emerging stars of 2019. That MSW gave Mike Smith his other win on yesterday's card, aboard Big Scott Daddy , a colt by Scat Daddy out of Last Song ( Unbridled's Song ). Could a colt from SD's last crop be a potential st...

Re: Accelerate vs Justify HOTY

Curious......have you ever been back in the barn when your over-achiever horse returns from a battle on the track and has to be put down? I'm willing to bet that 99.9% of the rich "no-goods" for the sport would be willing to give most of their money not to have to live through that another time. It...

'Just the word is so... sure it's frightening' - Pat Smullen reflects on 'the ultimate second chance' in life From a world bubbling with stress, endless sacrifice and cold, cold scrutiny, from a need to hear those cheers rattle down off the grandstands, to this. The talking heads were surprised to see Bates Motel as the damsire of Qahira--and so was I!
In the FWIW department, Bates Motel is the damsire of Curlin's tail line granddam. I remember that being held against Curlin during the speculative days about his stallion career.

Don't know if the others (especially Mig) had a clue they weren't being renewed. I'm a Migliore fan. He's good for the game and would make a good "face of" even though he's not a race caller.
Richard Migliore has a lot of class and is very good, hopefully he's back somewhere soon.

Thanks for the effort Flanders, much appreciated. When found, imho it really puts a damper on the "Bayern wiped out the field" consensus of many folks, it's worth a look for sure! Bayern broke inward out of the 7 hole, so no, it would have been impossible for him to take out "the field". Did he ser...

But at the same time, don’t reward Team Hronis and penalize the Evil Empire of Justify for business decisions. After all, it’s not personal......it’s business.
I don't think the point of "rewarding" is to say one is a business decision and one isn't. . . .
