Re: The greatness of a nation and its moral progress

"I would prefer instead of litigating this matter that you first apologize on the internet to Hal and Dina. . . "

HUH?

And more importantly, are the horses STILL in that horrendous situation?

Re: In memoriam 2018

I wonder if the "pop" he remembered hearing was his own neck vertebra fracturing; at the instant of nerve impingement it's possible that the sequence of messages from the senses going back to the brain get a bit jumbled in recollection. That was my first thought, also. A post accident way of trying...

Re: “icareihelp” Situation?

That was a very informative article. Disturbing, but educational. Thanks for the link. And it should be required reading for anyone who is even remotely interested in 'rescuing' a horse. This is the root of some of the friction between icareihelp and NTWO, I believe. Dina asked them to help rescue ...

It was the driver of Gunnevera's trailer, who I believe they said is a former trainer.
Gunn's driver is a sharp dresser :D I suppose no news is good news.

Re: 2018 Woodward

Gunny half reared/lunged in the paddock, it might have been when his girth was being tightened. It looked like A. Sano that he knocked over, but not sure.

Strong win by Yoshida, and glad to see Gunny up for second. All is forgiven.

Re: Mendelssohn

I think the difference is that European trainers and owners in general are not as afraid to lose as the American ones when they get a really good horse. Of course I'm not saying that that's always the case (e.g. the effort to preserve Frankel's perfect record-that's not at all hating on the horse, ...

Re: Mendelssohn

How serious is it when AOB says he isn't 100% due to some lost training time before a big G1 race? Pretty serious if anything he’s known to be modest and completely understated so if he brings it up at all you know it has to be significant. It was talked about more in the British and Irish racing p...

Ok, just answered my own question. But thank you Investia.

The Pat O'Brien Handicap will be another small field as the field is down to four. Roy H, St. Joe Bay, Ransom the Moon, and Horse Greedy scratched.
There was only one horse in the race.

Re: Why does the horse on the outside win so much

With all due respect, all herd animals are hierarchical, put any 2 horses together and you have a hierarchy. It has nothing to do with "class". Having to pass on the inside rail, particularly in tight quarters, means a horse has to invade another horse's personal space. Herd dynamics can come into p...

Re: Older Horses - 2018

We call it the training pyramid in French :p and that's what I was referring to, I am well aware that it is not simply a matter of go-go-go, otherwise your horse will run from both leg and hand actions as well as fall on the forehand and lose rhythm. Still you are going to have a much harder time g...

I always thought her name was pronounced Wonder Gad-oh but it seems it is actually Wonder Gad- ot. I like the way the former sounds better. Isn't she named after the woman who played Wonder Woman, Gal Gadot? I think I heard that somewhere. . . Anyway, she is not French, so that may account for the ...

Re: Older Horses - 2018

He's going to have 3 correct gaits for dressage, that is the most basic requirement. Impulsion/forward has to come over the back to the bit, it's not quite exactly the same as "GO-GO-GO" - a very misunderstood concept. The German word is schwung and much more accurately relays the concept. He also h...

Re: Justify

The most valuable thing about Justify is that he is a Classic-winning, Dirt-running son of the late super sire Scat Daddy, and who won the Triple Crown. That he won another G1 besides the TC also adds to that. That he is undefeated doesn't add anything in this case. It'd be far more meaningful if h...
