Re: RIP Penny Chenery

My heart breaks hearing this. But she lived a long successful life and made one of the largest impacts on this sport and a huge impact for women. Rip. Her legacy has long been cemented.

Unfortunately this seems to be the reality setting in. I truly believe hes the best of this crop, but unless they can be patient and wait until next year... well I'm not holding my breath.

Re: Matings 2017

It's pretty common to breed 3YOs. I just don't see anything wrong with it. I'm not a fan of it for multiple reasons but to each their own. I'm not a breeder so I guess I'm either going to be wrong or have a less one sided view, that's up to the viewer to decide. Either way, we're talking about bree...

Re: Siblings (and offspring) of well-known horses

Delta Prince (1/2 to Royal Delta) just won stylishly at Saratoga. Not sure what prompted the 4-months between races this year, but I thought he looked like a winner all the way. http://www.equibase.com/static/chart/pdf/SAR080517USA5.pdf I suspect he has issues. Here's hoping he stays sound and gets...

Re: Classic Empire

There's no reason to geld him. Sounds like they are keeping hope he'll tell them he's ready to go again this year, but they are listening to him so we'll see. If love for him to make it back this year but that gets more and more unlikely. At this point, there's not much left for him except races he ...

Re: Matings 2017

What's wrong with them breeding her? She's not that good, so not much upside to continuing her racing career. Might as well get some foals. It seems a little bit absurd to want to protect her, then turn around and breed her as a young 3yo and then after the fact wonder if she should be racing in fo...

Then retire her, wait a bit, breed her.

This scenario currently playing seems silly.

American Cleopatra Bred to Uncle Mo, Could Still Race American Cleopatra, the grade 1-placed full sister to Triple Crown winner American Pharaoh, is in foal to Uncle Mo , but owner and breeder Ahmed Zayat is still undecided on whether her racing career is over. The Bob Baffert-trained 3-year-old ra...

Re: Arrogate

Noticed he had his head turned out to the right around the turn as if looking at the stands then straightened out down the stretch. Still worried about possible soundness issues. I am a huge Arrogate fan but thought Accelerate's work was more impressive today. With Accelerate and Collected in the r...

Re: Arrogate

They all have bad days. I'm not worried if that's all that it was. Better he does it now than in more important races. Glad he came back when he did.

Re: 3 YOs of 2017

Hope the little horse is iron is doing ok :( was really looking forward to seeing him in the Haskell and thought it would be right up his alley. I think Casse said he just wants more time to prepare him, and with his tough campaign and bad luck this year, I am ok with not rushing him. Maybe these f...

Who is training SPD? Re: Siblings (and offspring) of well-known horses

I wonder if his new owner ( who hasn't been identified, IIRC ) didn't want a name so similar to American Pharoah...or to perhaps give the impression that the colt had the same owner as AP. :? Honestly I don't like either name. Irish Pharoah is like they couldn't come up with anything more original ...

Video of his trip to the track. He moves nice and quite handsome. Hate the name change though.

Re: Classic Empire

The notion that this abscess is genetic related is hilarious. Horses abscess all the time. It's likely from the unresolved issue he had in April that kept him from the Derby. Casse even said the day they withdrew him that he could've popped the abscess that night and would've been fine and 100% sou...
