Re: 2018 Keeneland November Sale

IIRC Seattle Serenade ran one or two really impressive races but couldn't hold together.

Re: Retirements 2018

I've been watching him slide down the ladder so I'm glad it worked out for him.

Re: Siblings (and offspring) of well-known horses

So, walkovers shouldn't count? What I want to know is why a race for fillies is named for Desi Arnaz!

No thanks to all those odds! Coliseum must really be getting some buzz, 2018-19 version of Nero? ;)

She doesn't appear to be wearing a helmet. I expect the horse is as close to bombproof as possible, though.

Comes N Threes (Archarcharch x Ring Ring Ring) finished..... 3rd in the Indiana Futurity.
I wonder if they chose the stallion for his name? :D

Re: The Melbourne Cup (G1)

Most horses would have been put down immediately, so I'd call it a racing fatality.

Re: The Melbourne Cup (G1)

I know shoulder fractures happen and are not really uncommon, but that's a big strong bone not taking immediate force--any information from experts would be appreciated.

And yes, it was grim to see the field finishing past the green tarp, although I couldn't see the horse.

Re: Siblings (and offspring) of well-known horses

Conte di Luna won a MSW at Santa Anita over the heavy favorite in his debut. He's by Liaison x House of Fortune, by Free House. I'd love to see the mare get a good one.

Re: Breeders' Cup Watchalong Thread

I see that Game Winner sold for only $110,000 at Keeneland September last year. Is there anything in a horse's walk that tips off that it will "paddle" at a hard gallop? I'm sure it isn't a desirable feature--I used to cringe every time they showed little St. Trinian's from a head-on shot!

Re: BC: Who's going?

Next year in California. I've been to the Derby at CD but never to the BC. Hope you enjoy it but also hope to see you in California next time. Lots of space and gardens even for general admission.

Re: Stallion News

I can't post a link, but on FB I got a post from Coolmore Australia about American Pharoah's first crop. Some nice footage of the champ (looking calm as ever) and several of his babies. Worth looking for!

Re: Stallion News

Looks like the classy guy he is. Looks like Northview will promote him well. I can't say I expect him to be a superstud but he could do well in that market with his good female family.

Re: Hoppertunity

I wouldn't say a steal, given his lack of speed --but a solid breed to race option. I think it's a very good spot for him. BTW he was fourth in his debut to Bayern, second in Chrome's SA Derby--his turn to get some lovin'. :-).

Why is there a Juvenile Turf Sprint when the (dirt) Juvenile Sprint was derided and discarded?
