Re: 2018 Keeneland November Sale

I'll take Saxet Heights, Aspenglow, Stopshopping Maria, Jessica is Back, and Almudena (now THAT is an interesting pedigree). Also, why do color breeders try to sell their horses at racehorse sales? A bay TB, no matter how good a ~sporthorse~ they are supposed to be, would get laughed out of the rin...

In the post Justify world, expect more and more of these :? While covering the news of Good Magic's retirement, Nick Hines on TVG also mentioned Shanghai Bobby and said he was apparently headed to Japan . Really? :o I have not yet seen anything in Japanese source to date, anyway. Total of eight Shanghai Bobby babies (now 2yos and 3yos) have been imported an...

Re: 2018 Keeneland September Yearling Sale

Looking through the results. Who blackballed Americain? 13 entered. Highest price was $2,500. 7 didn’t even draw a bid. His shedmate Raison dEtat also has issues. Carpe Diem was in demand more than I’d have thought. The Danza’s sold surprisingly well. I wonder where Shanghai Bobby stands next year. ...

Re: Instagrand

Just had a look at the pedigree... don’t see many without inbreeding in the first 5gen.

Love the Lawyer Ron mare on the bottom - herself a daughter of Lord At War - a wonderful find in a pedigree.

This might be my new favorite horse to watch retire at the end of 2019.

Jerry has himself a hell of a colt. Drayden fits him well, too. Now just have to see how far he wants to go.

One Liner, winner of last year's Southwest Stakes and 2nd this year in the Pimlico Special sold for $400K to Whispering Oaks. I hope they'll race him out this year and maybe next. I'm sure he's a stallion prospect for them.

Mississippi, 3YO who finished 3rd in the FL Derby, sold for $190K.

OH my, I didn't realize this thread existed. Not a birder, but I do enjoy identifying some of the more random types I see in the northern parts of GA. My most common visitors are barn swallows, RT hummers, eastern bluebirds, house sparrows, carolina wrens, brown thrashers, robins and northern mockin...

Restless Rider by Distorted Humor very impressive winner of Churchill’s Debutante stakes after being taken up sharply still won by 11 lengths in fast time. Great move by horse and rider to avoid the filly who broke down in front of them. She retreated quickly into them and the fact this one moved o...

Timing truly is everything... can't wait to see what this little filly brings. Personally love Two Step Salsa and think he will be a very handy sire.

From what I understand, it wasn’t even the cancer. I mean, it was but wasn’t. Stage 1 breast cancer - so they caught it early and prognosis was likely good. Sepsis post surgery took her. I’m not trying to downplay her cancer at all - I just want to push the awareness of what complications can arise ...

Re: Justify vs AP at stud

I've now seen Justify in the flesh. I was most certainly wow'd. Not just because of his accomplishments, but because he has a presence. Where American Pharoah is much like a child's pony you'd want to love on, Justify is all horse. Not in a mean way - just in a THIS IS ALL MINE sort of presence. He ...

Baffert has Ax Man, too. Because the Dirt Mile is a one turn event I don't know if I see a good spot for Ax Man in the Breeders Cup this year. I don't think he can compete with Justify and West Coast at 10f and he's not a one turn horse. Baffert also has Dr. Dorr and possibly even Collected (can't ...
