Re: 2018 Keeneland September Yearling Sale

As soon as you cut into a horse's intestine to remove an impaction or perform a resection, the horse is automatically more likely to colic again. Once there is a seam that gets stitched up in the intestine, the scar tissue becomes a 'speedbump' of sorts along the gut, which can lead to another impac...

Re: 2018 Keeneland September Yearling Sale

Zayat went to $800,000 for an American Pharoah, #1558, and there is a photo of the colt on the linked Bloodhorse article. He looks JUST like his sire - the shape of the head, the coloring, the expression in the eyes, the ears. In what you can see of him, he's a duplicate of his dad. :D https://www....

Re: Stallion News

I thought share the upside required breeders to produce two live foals in the first two seasons of the sire in order to secure a lifetime breeding right. For Mor Spirit one only needs to produce a foal from his first season?

lol @ riders from the UAE lobbying for endurance horse welfare. The Maktoums and other ruling families from the UAE sure do love their Thoroughbreds, but their reputation with endurance horses is atrocious. The whole country was banned from international FEI competition for several months a few year...

Being by Ghostzapper and looking to have the world at his feet as a two year old, I was hoping his career would have gone a little differently. Oh well, hopefully he will be well received as a stallion.

I really hope Delta Prince can pull this one off. He's a G1 win away from being a dynamite stallion prospect.

Smarty Jones Returning to Stud in Pennsylvaniafor 2019 https://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/articles/229444/smarty-jones-returning-to-stud-in-pennsylvania-for-2019 ~ Huh. If he wasn't getting support in KY at 3500$ as a Derby winner, the move makes sense. He was standing in Kentucky for $7,500. ...

A Scat Daddy sprinting filly? Looking into my crystal ball, I see one M.V. Magnier signing for her and a 2019 booking to Galileo in the future.

Though, I wouldn't be surprised if Stonestreet buys its partners out of her either.

Re: Trials and Tribulations of Mick Ruis

I meant tough in the sense that he seemed to have a disagreement with Shelbe, causing him to take the horses away. Not that Shelbe was having a tough time getting the job done/getting results. In that sense, things seemed to be going well.

Re: Trials and Tribulations of Mick Ruis

I never got the Ruis love. All that feel-good garbage about buying millions of dollars' worth of horses to get his daughter launched--apparently just a front. And he was very quick to pull all of the horses from her when the going got tough. Never really warmed up to his story, though I did like th...

Update on Dubai favourite Reynaldothewizard. As expected, he has left Dubai for the (literal ) greener pastures of one of Godolphin's other bases, specifically their Retraining Division in the UK.

How big is Uncle Mo? They list him at 16.3, but he's probably 17 hands, if not a little more. Pictures don't really convey how enormous he is, either. Thanks. It would be something to see him in the flesh. He's beautiful, and yeah, very big. He didn't come out of his stall when we visited, but it w...

IMHO, Justify is going to present a problem ( hopefully one that doesn't repeat ) for racing historians. How do you judge a horse whose career spanned only a few months and merely six races...but he managed to win the Triple Crown? He never raced at two and will never face older horses. He was impr...

Re: Stallion News

His fee is set as private, but he covered 77 mares in 2017, resulting in 52 live foals, so he seems fertile enough. I'd imagine his book is kept pretty small and select, but as long as he is is healthy and continues to have 2 or 3 graded stakes winners from each crop, I hope he continues to cover ma...

One less arrogant owner who threw horses in way over their heads. I hate to see big owners/supporters leave the sport, but when one who is always chirping away on twitter, moving horses to a new trainer every 3 weeks, and just being a general loud mouth when his decisions are questioned... I won't m...

Re: Stallion News

Modern hot walking machines/walking machines rarely use tethers and are pretty safe. A horse can injure itself eating, sleeping, walking, etc. It seems they will always find a way, unfortunately. My horse would walk as slow as he could in his hotwalker 'stall' until he went under the barrier and wou...
