Re: G1 United Nations

I like either the Chad Brown, the Chad Brown, the other Chad Brown, or the Chad Brown I forgot to mention.

Re: How did NYRA do at Belmont this year?

I did see a couple of women passed out on a bench before the Belmont, but did not see more drunks than usual. On the other hand I didn't go to the first floor grandstand where the music was. I would rather deal with stoners than drunks any day. On Friday, the NY guys from that TV series "Horseplayer...

Re: Suffolk Downs ... not dead yet?

Speaking of Suffolk, we own a tiny piece of a horse that was shipped to Suffolk Saturday and got beat at 1-5. Unfortunately, we were at Belmont. It would have been nice to be in Suffolk's cramped paddock, never been there.

Re: Justify/Restoring Hope...quite the duo

I didn't notice what happened until I watched the taped NBC show last night. I had wondered how Noble Indy ran last. He didn't break as sharply as the other Baffert and ran three wide until fading. Wagering on races, you have to figure out what scenario is going to play out, and I dismissed the othe...

Re: How did NYRA do at Belmont this year?

One thing I really like about Belmont after the Belmont race is over is the nice sunsets. There was a nice one Saturday, a spectacular one after the last race the last time they ran the Breeders Cup there. People sitting around us were very nice, like most horse racing fans. The usher did an excelle...

Re: Early Belmont race prediction.

This is very early, so my opinion may change before Sat, but on first glance at the pps this is Justify's race to lose. Barring something unforeseen If he runs back to the SA Derby he likely wins IMHO, but it's a little questionable whether or not that will happen. Baffert says he on the muscle and...

Re: Belmont Stakes News & Notes - 2018

Rain and the Belmont always reminds me of Smarty Jones' Belmont. What a weird day that was, rain all day, people cooped up inside, occupying any available free space, in corners of the building that hadn't been used all year, Reagan dying earlier in the day, the frenzy as he came down the stretch, p...

Yay.

Re: 2018 Preakness Stakes

Optimizer was the horse I was trying to remember.

For the record, I don't think he will win, but it would not surprise me if he tried to challenge Justify on the front end.

Re: 2018 Preakness Stakes

Jeremy Balan ‏@BH_JBalan Let me lay out a scenario. Let's say Sporting Chance sends and sets the pace and Justify sits off. How would you feel if you have the Derby winner coming up outside Sporting Chance as they enter the stretch? Wouldn't be shocking if Sporting Chance was sent, Lukas has sent h...

Re: 2018 Kentucky Derby News & Notes

I saw the chart was fixed after discrepancies were brought up on another forum.

I see Justify rated, my apologies, I was wrong. It was astounding the he won after sitting so close to those fractions, you would have expected the closers to make a move.

Re: 2018 Kentucky Derby presented by Woodford Reserve (G1)-0

Justify is a talented horse, but I think he is a very shaky favorite. A lightly raced horse who wired his last race with easy early fractions and no pressure, with speed in this race...I can see him going out too fast to challenge the leader or leaders, then weakening in the stretch. The Derby isn'...

Re: Xpressbet Florida Derby (G1) - 03/31/18

Mississippi was my choice in the race, was sitting in the garden spot behind the two front-runners, and had nothing in the stretch. He may have been too close to the hot pace, but really had no excuse.

The run out after the wire by Audible looked odd, almost as if he was being pulled up.

Re: Breeders' Cup Derby?

The board seems to be more interested in attracting more casual fans than concentrating on the fans who are paying to go to this event. Who would attend a two day Breeders Cup with no Classic race? If the sport didn't attract new fans after a Triple Crown winner, it is not going to. It is a niche sp...
