Re: Waiting for news on ...

I feel so bad for them. The Player 's been such a special horse in that barn and on the farm. It may take a miracle to save him, but miracles have been known to happen. As I watched the race, I saw no obvious "bad step." He just started fading back and then it looked like Calvin pulled him up prett...

Re: Winx

Hugh Bowman was listed on a couple of stakes horses the next day on the card at Canberra...they were the favorites or second or third choices in the betting, and one of them won with another jockey. I'm glad Bowman will be all right but I'm sure he's not too happy on not being able to ride at Canber...

The lead pony in Justify's work is one of Baffert's hunky little reining QH's. IIRC, the buckskin is Smoky...but I can't remember the palomino's name. They've been discussed on this forum before, and there may even be some photos somewhere , way back in these threads. :P Wasn't Smoky AP's co...

Haskin pointed out in his latest column that the regally bred Hollywood Star (Malibu Moon x Hollywood Story) recently smoked 0:57 1/5 on the Gulfstream turf. Glad to hear that Hollywood Star is working well, even though it's great he worked well on the turf I hope he tries the dirt again so...

Re: 25-Year-Old Dinerman The New Voice Of Golden Gate Fields

Plenty of Emerald Downs people will miss Matt, I noticed how better each year his race calls progressed over his three year stint; his enthusiasm was always there in abundance. Kurt Hoover on TVG couldn't praise Matt enough whenever he mentioned him. This certainly wasn't a total surprise, just in h...

Re: horses with unique coloring/facial markings

Wonderful win for Shironii ! He sure is easy to pick out in the race. Miss Vista , the splash white, finished 3rd in her race at Caulfield today. Haven't found a replay but in Googling for the results (grrr, TVG didn't show it), I found a Facebook page with more photos of her. https://www.facebook....

Although it's been a few years since I saw Julie, I have some wonderful memories of her, especially when visiting Hollywood Park before it closed, and two times at the BC when it was at SA. Several of us horse racing gals and Julie stayed at the SA Inn during the BC, and the atmosphere was like a te...

Re: Horrible Names For Horses

Not too horrible a name, but a 3 YO filly named Morticia won a turf sprint stakes race at Gulfstream last Saturday. With that name I had to bet on her, and now I can't get the theme song to "The Adams Family" out of my head. :)

Anyone hear how No Dozing came out of this race? I really like him but he sure finished up the track in this one. Haven't heard if he came out with issues or plain didn't like the TB track.

In the second race at Sam Houston yesterday, 10 year old Bim Bam won by a neck over 10 year old Bwanagoldmine, but was DQ'd as BB's jockey hit Bwanagoldmine with his whip:

Re: The WAR HORSE Chronicles

My favorite old timer at the local track, 9 year old Memphis Mobster, won the last race last Tuesday at Portland Meadows. He's lost a step and has gone down in class since last spring, but give him an early lead and sloppy conditions, he's still tough to overhaul. :)

Re: Remsen S. (Grade 2) - 11/26/16

Mo Town was a deserving winner of the Remsen, but I sure liked how well the #9 No Dozing closed for second. Being by Union Rags out of a Pulpit mare, he definitely should handle the Derby distance and then some. A lot of things can happen from now to the Derby (see Not This Time) but this guy's defi...

Re: The Japan Cup(G1) (Nov 27)

My jaw dropped a little when I saw the winner in the paddock and when warming up...one of the best looking horses I think I've seen since starting to watch Japanese racing a few years ago. On the head on shot during the race replay, he reminded me of Tiznow a little. He ran as good as he looked. :)

Forego. Was a teenager in the "70's and watched racing on TV any chance I could; Secretariat and the other TC winners were awesome, but I've always had a big soft spot for those tough geldings that plugged away, no matter what. When it was coupled by a horse that usually was a come from behinder and...
