Re: Happiness

Congrats, Bal! You look so magnificently classy in that wedding photo. LOVE the veil! My happiness is that I'm working on a small veggie and berry farm for the summer. 8 hours in the sun and dirt. I'm sore and tired and just got my first gnarly sunburn of the season. I am incandescently happy. Offic...

Re: The 2018 Kentucky Derby Pool Contest

The results are in! Congrats to Insane Crazy , who absolutely knocked it out of the park with 60 of the 65 possible points! This is the greatest number of points earned in a Derby pool contest I have on record, and congrats also to slewobarney and starrydreamer with their very strong on-the-board p...

Re: The movie thread

I love a really solid horror film and can get exceedingly picky about my choices. Get Out was something above and beyond. A truly magnificent first showing for a director and IMO a game changer for the genre, or at least a subset of it. Can't wait for more from Jordan Peele. On the other hand, I am ...

True but.... Now we're learning that the organizers behind The Womans March are setting a March 3rd national protest for the kids https://www.cnn.com/2018/02/18/us/national-student-walkout-womens-march-trnd/index.html I was thinking that it sort of reminded me of Union Rebel Rousers that come in fr...

So absurd. I hope it gets no traction. Do trainers even want to put their colts in something like this?

Is Silvery Moon allowed in the UK/US studbooks? Or is he still part of the line they're using to develop the 8 generation rule? I seem to remember that this brand of paint doesn't show up in TBs traditionally...

Oh! What fun news.

I am interested to see if this brings interest in aftercare options for ALL Thoroughbreds to the Zenyatta fan crowd. Coz is definitely a fine ambassador for the move into second careers, being who he is. I'm excited to see where he goes!

Its so incredibly tragic and then to see the morons trying to point fingers at the people who risked their lives trying to save the horses is just to much for me. Are you on the TBC Facebook? Some wretched soul was doing this and I couldn't bite my tongue. I cannot even fathom what these poor horse...

An OTTB non-profit for your Giving Tuesday consideration...

Some shameless plugging ahead, but it's relevant to our interests. I swear! In July 2016, I had the chance to upend my entire life and move to freakin' Vermont (after 6 years of intending to move to Los Angeles) to intern with a thoroughbred aftercare organization. It's small and scrappy and I love ...

I don't know why they're retiring him. I get nothing is sure.. but Met Mile?
Right? I would've LOVED to see Gun Runner head to the Met, but if he's not, PJ seems an easy gamble.

I didn't realize this at the time, but both the winner and place horse of the Breeders Cup Juvenile were Curlins! Kudos to Good Magic (who broke his maiden with the win) and Solomini for giving their papa a great showing. Good Magic is Curlin x Glinda the Good Witch, by Hard Spun. Am I the only one ...
