Re: Love the Chase-not surprised. The full siblings to California Chrome haven't done much. It doesn't bode well for Chrome's stallion career. SF Bloodstock seemed like extremely commercial breeders/buyers. If there isn't an instant return they don't seem interested. They were part of the syndicati...

Re: New Conformation Photos

Although this is not an official conformation photo of California Chrome, it is close enough to post here. It was taken at Haras Sumaya during their day when the public can visit and see Chrome, who is much loved and appreciated in Chile. (https://twitter.com/Loreleo/status/1043684960551485441) http...

Re: Stallion News

I’m saying what Curtis and Flanders are saying, but in different words... he was ruined, cooked, f**ked up from that huge effort in the Met Mile! He was never the same. Really incredible effort, but it did something to him. I never said he should not have been in the race, just that it ruined him. ...

Re: New Conformation Photos

I'm far from an expert but his shoulder angle looks very nice. I've always understood that the shoulder governs the forearm stride (happy to be instructed). You're right. He does have a nice shoulder. Rule of thumb: In your mind's eye, draw an imaginary line from the top of the withers straight dow...

Yoshida is from the family of Damascus, who was owned by a member of the Woodward family. You are absolutely correct. @SSilence86, thanks for posting the news and link to Chrome's latest colt. The foal is quite lovely. Many of the Chrome foals we've seen here in North America are impressive and look a lot like him.

Phantom is quite spectacular. If he can run some, he will acquire tons of fans.

Re: Stallion News

Taylor Made Stallions has reported that California Chrome covered 133 mares in 2018. He will cover an estimated 100 mares in Chile. So far in his young stud career, Chrome's foals are representing him very well. Here's one of Taylor Made's latest featured foals. https://scontent-iad3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/...

Re: Siblings (and offspring) of well-known horses

California Chrome's Brother Faversham Breaks Maiden Put in a call to trainer Art Sherman and you still hear the longing, although more than a year has passed. "It's been kind of quiet since Chrome left," Sherman said. "I still miss him." June 21 brought relief for the octogenarian who conditioned t...

The videos of Forty Niner are so heartwarming. He looks amazing for his age, and looks content.

I wish more farms would exercise their stallions under tack like they are doing with Creator.

Re: The rise of Sunday Silence

Yoshida is interesting from several points of view. One is that physically he appears to be more of a Northern Dancer type even though ND is only 5x5 in his pedigree. Another is that Tony Bin, the sire of his paternal granddam, had Hyperion in his third generation. This is because Tony Bin's dam was...

Re: The rise of Sunday Silence

Well, when all is said and done, I will always love and respect Sunday Silence, both for what he did on the racetrack and at stud. And I will always be deeply disappointed that such a great horse has never been respected in the home of his birth. Sometimes the elite know-it-alls really don't know an...

Re: The rise of Sunday Silence

Ok, then compare only Sunday's first crop to the get of Easy Goer and you will find no contest. Compare Easy Goer to, say, Scat Daddy. Both died young and had only a short time at stud. You're being obtuse and needlessly defensive of SS. If you say so, but it cuts both ways. Sunday Silence was born...

Re: The rise of Sunday Silence

Ok, then compare only Sunday's first crop to the get of Easy Goer and you will find no contest. Sunday was a smash hit right from his first crop. As a Californian, I well recall the disdain the eastern racing establishment had for Sunday Silence (indeed for most horses based or bred in California un...
