What does the asterisk on Compelled mean?
I am going to venture a guess that perhaps they would consider keeping her in training in 2019 instead of breeding her?

Why do you say that? Genuinely asking.
Just doing the math.....Limited book and dropping fee in the hottest stallion market in a decade? Makes no sense to me. Something else is going on.

Re: 2019 Stallion Fees

In my opinion, there are only so many mares worth putting a $100,000 + stud fee into. The US now has at least 11 (if I'm counting right) stallions who are standing for over 100k. Given stud fees and book sizes, are 10% of the mares covered by Kentucky based stallions worth putting a 100k+ stud fee ...

Re: Stallion News

$25,000 would be way way overpriced. He only won the Belmont and the Tampa Bay Derby. Sometimes its best to start lower, handpick mares and then raise later if the horse proves worth it. Agree. $25,000 would be ridiculous. I'd even suggest they won't even have the luxury of 'handpicking' mares at $...

Re: 2019 Stallion Fees

I know they were waiting post-BC for Cairo Prince, but Cairo Cat just defected from the BC, does he have any other significant contenders? None that I can think of. Airdrie must feel so down right now, lol. Nobody associated with Cairo Prince as a stallion is 'down' right now. They are just waiting...

I'd say better than even chance they've pulled her blood and it's announced tomorrow that she's sick and likely out of the Distaff. Hasn't BB said recently he's had something running through his barn?

Re: Fillies and Mares - 2018

What just happened!?!? Abel Tasman was balky loading for the G1 Zenyatta, got off slow and trailed the field like Zen, tried to pick off horses, but then just flattened out in the stretch. Mike didn't even touch her with the whip, just let her cross the wire at a gallop in 5th. I hope she's OK. The...

Re: Jockey Club Gold Cup Sept. 29 at Belmont

Diversify has been training huge, I cannot look past him. Also, I’m rooting for only geldings from now on, they don’t get prematurely retired for no reason! The two horses showing they are most likely to run top races to my eyes have been Diversify and Thunder Snow. Specifically, Thunder Snow looke...

Re: 2018 Keeneland September Yearling Sale

There’s a Kitten’s Joy x Awesome Flower filly in the catalogue. Wonder what she’ll go for. I’d buy. $85,000. Brookdale bought her. (Session 5). A Kitten's Joy x Love Train colt went to Martin Anthony for $450,000. Love Train is by Tapit, from the family of Starfish Bay. Three of his colts have gone...

Re: 2018 Keeneland September Yearling Sale

Interesting question........Commercial sales market is starting to see the value in Kitten's Joy as a stallion? Right as Mr. Ramsey exits and fee with H&D is a more reasonable $60,000......or BECAUSE he's no longer going to be flooding the market with his offspring to cheap mares? EDIT TO ADD : Roar...

Re: 2018 Keeneland September Yearling Sale

They should’ve taken that money. Precisely because WTC is a first year sire. They could always breed stage magic back to him later, she’s young. Edited to add... I'm in love with that Violence colt, he looks almost exactly in pattern and colour like an arabian mare I nearly bought many years ago. Y...

Re: 2018 Two-year-olds

She was coming wide but, while still behind the leaders, she started flattening out. I have to wonder if the kickback affected her and some others. I know the Spa track was supposed to be fast, but most of the field came home covered in mud/dirt. Is Saratoga one of those tracks where the kickback i...

Re: Travers 2018

I agree no DQ was the appropriate call. But somewhat embarrassed sitting near a crew of fans that found the need to booo the winning connections in the winner's circle, as if a Champion deserved that at Saratoga. I get Mott v Baffert in NY, but that is not a good look, imo. And oh yeah.....Quality R...
