Re: 2018 Two-year-olds

Game Winner won impressively first out today at DMR, pulling away in the stretch. He also has a very nice pedigree, by Candy Ride out of an AP Indy mare. Looks like one to watch going forward.

Victoria is still registered, has an account here, but she hasn't been here in ages. Up to her if she and when she wants to visit the forum. :)
Hmm... isn't she the owner of the forum? Also, does she still work for Porter's stable?

Great work! Just curious, however, is Victoria still involved with the forum?

Re: Justify

I know Justify started out in some other trainer's barn, but I don't know whether that was always just a "starting out" assignment or whether he was transferred to Baffert only when he looked like something special. Anyone can clarify? From the Justify (horse) Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wik...

Re: Justify

It was a great day at SA today. Got a couple of Justify posters signed by both Mike Smith and Bob Baffert, and also won a pair of goggles in the raffle signed by Mike Smith. And while waiting for Justify to come out, none other than Barbara Livingston happened by and it was a lot of fun chatting wit...

Re: Belmont Saturday Watchalong thread

Thought I read somewhere that there's going to be a segment on Justify winning the TC on the NBC Nightly News... Anyone know if so, and if true when it's going to be broadcast? It was tonight. Here's a link to the show, the segment on Justify is towards the end. https://www.nbc.com/nightly-news/vid...

Re: Justify

Interestingly, some similarities between the two "big reds", Secretariat and Justify: Both big chestnuts with white blaze on face Ran on the same calendar dates for the three TC races Secretariat born on 3/30, Justify born on 3/28 (The first "big red", Man 'o War born on 3/29) Their respective sires...

Re: Justify

The smartest decision they made was sending him to Baffert. He’d still be going through his conditions if he was with Pletcher or Brown. An excellent point! And with that in mind, it was mentioned recently on ATR how Baffert is 5-for-5 in the Preakness with his horses that won the KD, and the quest...

Re: Justify

Justify comes along some 99 years after the first TC winner, Sir Barton, and the two chestnuts bare a striking resemblence to one another with that big, white facial blaze.

So happy for Mike Smith! Really enjoyed the pre-race story on him as well. And dittos on props to Gronkowski who hadn't even raced beyond a mile coming into this race.

Justify's final time was a few ticks faster than stablemate and older horse Hoppertunity ran in the Brooklyn earlier on the card.

Re: Belmont Saturday Watchalong thread

Anyone happen to catch the "Tale of the tape" that NBC did comparing Justify to American Pharoah physically? I know Justify weighs more, but just curious about height comparison, etc... Pharoah is 16.1, Justify 16.3 Which, as they informed the television audience of millions, is about 8". Thanks!

Re: Belmont Stakes News & Notes - 2018

A question regarding Belmont Park... based on replays of races from '70's, etc. it looks like there was some kind of shrubbery (possibly ivy?) that covered the fence along the outside of track along the backstretch and turns... if so, just wondering if anyone knows why it was removed?

Re: Early Belmont race prediction.

Imo pedigree is especially important in this race. Tapit, for example, is prominent in the pedigrees of winners of this race over the past several years. With that in mind, Tenfold's pedigree looks very good for the distance, as does Hofburg's and Vino Rosso's. I'm definitely pulling for Justify, bu...

Re: Belmont Stakes News & Notes - 2018

I doubt the post matters much. I do doubt his stamina right now, he sure looked tired in the Preakness. It wouldn't be surprising to see him poop out this time and finish off the board, he is made of flesh and blood after all. I agree regarding the post. If he breaks well I could see Smith moving o...
