Re: Quiet Chris Derby Lock

When Pletcher learns how to train a horse up to the derby, to peak in May instead of in March, I might give him a shot. For now, no. Unless he can get Calvin to ride the rail like he did on Super Saver again.....it was like the perfect storm. Pletcher knows what he is doing. Tapwrit, One Line...

Quiet Chris Derby Lock

Hope to see some people at Equistricon this summer. http://equestricon.com/ticket-packages As many here know I have been high on Irish War Cry and Tapwrit. Thought only Mastery and McCracken were threats. With Mastery going down, McCracken missing time, and with a questionable effort by Irish War Cr...

Re: Unique Bella

UB is very impressive. She won't go to the Derby, but it's interesting to me to hear some say she's not good enough or that she won't even win the Oaks. What male looks better than her to date? And what female do you see beating her in the Oaks? My concern with her would be that she ran off with Mi...

Re: Matt's Derby Dozen 2017

I like Epicharis. He seems to be much more mature and professional than Lani was at this point in his career last year. ( Actually, he's probably still more professional that Lani. ) I liked the determined way Epicharis came up the rail to pass the leaders in the Hyacinth, and IIRC Gold Allu...

Unified gets a lot of hype but has never really run a fast race. He is another Connect or Divining Rod who may steal a slow Grade 1 somewhere. Sharp Azteca is going to be very tough in any one turn Mile.

Re: Report: Pimlico Race Course Needs $300 Million Renovatio

Like Beyer speed figures, Pimlico has become outdated. Beyer's opinions though, unlike his speed figures, are still very useful. Let's get the Preakness to Laurel for 2019. "Moving the Preakness and all of Maryland racing to an improved Laurel should be a choice so obvious that it barely merits deba...

Re: Unique Bella

I would love to see a filly TC winner, one of the last great achievements left in the sport. But I would never run a filly unless it was a weaker crop. This crop of colts has some real talent, and not 9f speedball types, but a couple with talent and bred for 10f. I would keep options open with her, ...

Re: Grass Horses on Churchill Dirt

Coolmore did run So You Think ( talk about a horse who danced every dance !) in the 2011 BC Classic at Churchill, and he finished sixth. The horse was compromised, IMHO, by a poor ride and a wet, heavy track surface. And Giants Causeway ran well there. Other than Declaration of War though I don't r...

Grass Horses on Churchill Dirt

So has anyone ever proved or disproved this belief that Churchill's dirt is kind to Turf horses? It does seem there might be something to it. However, if true, with G1 races like the Derby, Clark, and Foster run over it, why haven't more trainers run their top grass horses in these races in order to...

Re: Pletcher - lack of 3YO depth this year?

Add One Liner. Pletcher now has quite a nice group. My guess is these 4 will make the gate and the top 2 are live to win it. 1) One Liner 2) Tapwrit 3) Battalion Runner 4) Always Dreaming Others who might get there 5) Made You Look 6) Sonic Mule 7) Malagacy 8) Third Day 9) Monaco You don't think On...

Re: Normandy Invasion

We own Butterscotch too. We put her in Saratoga but bought her back for $575k. Rick thought she was one of the best physicals in the sale and ultimately couldn't let her go. As for Normandy, he's a 10. He's the male equivalent of Havre de Grace in the looks department. They have the same physical t...

Re: Normandy Invasion

I've seen one report of a filly by Normandy Invasion. Foaled at Irish Hill Farms. I do not know who the mare is. Thanks. I think they are going to Stillwater in next week or two to look at property and are going to just drive down and see him themselves. They are interested in NY breds now for some...

Re: Charismatic comes home

Well if he was 21 years old that is like in the 70's for a human. Pretty good life. I must admit I never knew the way they calculated horse to human years. Quite interesting. It is 12 years for year 1 but 2.5 years for most of their lives. http://www.foothillsmobilevet.com/how-old-is-my-horse-in-hum...

Re: Normandy Invasion

Victoria has spoken about him before on this BB as Fox Hill owned and raced the horse. I would imagine that if you contact her she can tell you much of what you want to know. Thanks. I passed along enough info. The only mention I had of Fox Hill was they raced him and owned and sold the sister Butt...

Re: Normandy Invasion

If you're one of the best researchers in the world why do you deign to ask the forum what they think? Do it yourself smartass. I gather information. I am not an analyst of information. For example, in my write up I include quotes like Chad Brown says "He has a wonderful demeanor" or a poster on an ...

Re: Normandy Invasion

Well to start with, Normandy Invasion is still owned by Spendthrift Farm even though he's standing in New York. He entered stud only last year, so he will be covering his first book of mares this year. His first foals will be born next year. Here's a link to his Blood Horse stallion register page: ...

Normandy Invasion

Anyone hear or seen anything about his first foals? I honesty know little about his potential as a stallion but was asked to look into him for someone. I have no idea where to really start except to say he wasn't very sound, but neither was Tapit. 4K sounds reasonable and the person wants NY breds. ...

Re: Horse Handicapping/News Radio Shows

When I was 16 I called into Steve Byk's show using my voice replication software. It helped me sell it for quite few dollars although I don't think they ever used it because someone made one where it wasn't just in English. I am actually doing a job now for the guy who bought it. He gave me the nick...

Re: Derby Lists 2017

I see winner coming out of these 7. 1 Irish War Cry (Clearly the horse to beat) 2 Royal Mo (If he keeps improving watch out) 3 McCracken (Logical) 4 Tapwrit (If he peaks in May could easily win it) 5 Iliad (Talented but distance still question) 6 Mastery (Talented and Baffert) 7 Guest Suite (No lis...
