Re: Racehorses as foals

Anybody have a baby photo of Alysheba? I have one (in a box, stored away out of reach) of his full brother Enjoy Plan.

Re: Mexican Triple Crown 2018

("What do chickens have to do with any of this?!") Polla = Lottery in Latin America only. So it might not translate right with google translate or most translation programs. I believe its more like a regional use of the word. Right. Of course, being in Texas, when I see the word 'pollo' I think of ...

Re: Mexican Triple Crown 2018

Good grief, I posted that after I had taken my evening meds, so apparently my brain went to sleep mid-sentence. Now I don't remember what I was going to say after "but... " The 'Dams of Classic Winners' project also continues, unabated. I'm in the process of parsing out mares by country. Lots have t...

Re: Mexican Triple Crown 2018

Miesque I thought of you not long ago after the running of the Hungarian Derby, as the winner a filly named Esti Fény became the first winner for the Babolna National Stud farm (they call their Thoroughbred breeding operation Diopuszta to distinguish it from the purebred arab and shagya arabian por...

Mexican Triple Crown 2018

I'm not sure if anyone has posted about this, but this year Mexico had two Triple Crown winners - Kukulkan(MEX) (Derby Mexicano, Gran Premio Nacional & Stakes Jockey Mexicano) & Kutzamala(MEX) (Clasico Rubi, Clasico Esmeralda & Clasico Diamante). To be honest, I only stumbled across the information ...

Re: Some elusive pedigrees

No pedigree found:

Deccan Prince(IND), ch.c. 1979 Beauregard(?)
x Smiling Princess
won 1982 Golconda 2000 Guineas

Can't find a thing on this horse. I'm entering him into PQ database. Beauregard is already there. Smiling Princess has me stumped.

Re: Some elusive pedigrees

Could Couer De Lyon be Couer De Lion ? He had a son that won the Indian 2000 Guineas in 1948. I would say that he very likely is the same horse. So many different spellings are out there that things can get a bit murky! And few more missing lines: Bold Anne (IND), ch.f. 1955 Bold Bob(GB?) x Queen A...

Yes! Thanks. I was about 95% sure he was the one, but couldn't find anything out there to confirm it... and really, why didn't I just look at PQ?! :D

Re: Some elusive pedigrees

That's some great news... How'd you convince them in the end? It finally worked out that I only had to pay $118 in US money (sent via Western Union) for just the lists of winners (with color/yob & sire & dam of each horse). The majority of the pedigrees are findable, but some will be more tri...

Some elusive pedigrees

Well, I've got some good news, at last. After a bit of persuading and bargaining, I will be getting the majority of India's regional classic winners (i.e., Calcutta classics, Mysore classics, etc). For starters, I received full lists of the Bangalore classics: Bangalore 2000 Guineas Bangalore Derby ...

Yeah, I pointed out that currency rate to the guy and he said it was $1000 US FIRM and that they weren't interested in comparing prices to other websites/countries. This is what he said: Dear Mr Jxxxx 1. Please note that we are busy with various matters and have no time to waste on petty ones. 2. I ...

Re: Indian Classics

I was stunned by a reply from the Indian Stud Book registrar, who said he was quite serious--a subscription to the Indian Stud Book website for a person in the US is $1000 in US money. To get lists of winners of races would be $100. I told him that I would seek info elsewhere. He even had the gall t...

Happiness is getting over stomach flu (or bug or virus or whatever I had). It's so boring, being sick. I'm dragging myself back to work tomorrow, armed with anti-nausea meds and a fake smile! :D

Saw Solo , saw Avengers: Infinity War . Can't wait for The Incredibles 2 & the latest Jurassic Park movie (Lost Kingdom?). Solo was okay, I guess. I'm not a big sci-fi fan and was never terribly into the Star Wars thing, but it was entertaining. The Avengers movie was almost tiresome. I mean, it was...

Indian Classics

Heigh ho, good neighbors. I know it's been a while. Life has been extremely busy lately, particularly what with having to work in Austin these past few months. Anyway. Aside from the Indian 2000 Guineas, Derby, St. Leger, 1000 Guineas & Oaks (the histories of which I have), there are many other Derb...
