Re: Songbird Fan Appreciation Day

Sorry, but yes, it's at Taylor Made. That's who's consigning her in Nov, so that's where she's boarded until then.

Songbird Fan Appreciation Day

In case any of you can make it, we're having a fan event to meet Songbird on Sat, Oct 21. from 1:00-3:00. It's free to attend. We'll have refreshments and door prizes. She's a very sweet horse who should welcome having her picture taken with you!

Re: Former member Ezariah

I haven't stopped thinking about it all night. I never even met her in person, but thought so highly of her, she seemed like such a good and kind spirit. I hope that she's at peace, and that those who loved her find some kind of peace as well. She really was all those things. When Maria's Mon died,...

Former member Ezariah

Ezariah, whose real name was Julie Albright, passed away today. It's been awhile since she posted here, but she was always so sweet and enthusiastic. We remained in contact through Facebook, and it was there today that I read the shocking news. She was far too young and had far too much going for he...

Re: How Much Does She Weigh?

I think this is great. I've wondered before why this isn't done. I do think that there could be some value when you see a horse has lost considerable weight, for example. I also just think it's interesting and imparts some knowledge. Most will soon learn that there aren't really that many 1300 pound...

Re: Ramsey Farm swamped by offers for kittens joy

Also adding to the equation is that he doesn't sire offspring that wow buyers at the sales. Candy Ride and Hard Spun are two others in the same boat. You can't blame the buyers though for not going as high for physicals that don't get them excited.

Re: Songbird

V- will SongBird's injury affect her ability to carry a foal given the extra weight she would be carrying? No, she'll be fine. The chip is 3/4 separated as of the date we had her checked, but it'll be slowly knitting together with each passing day now that she's not stressing the bone by being in t...

Re: Keeneland, Churchill partnering on two new racetracks

I think everyone but KEE and CD are scratching their heads over this one. I'd prefer that these two entities, along with other current Ky tracks, work to improve their product enough so that there is at least a 9-month period of quality racing in Ky. It's a shame that no one wants to keep top horses...

Re: 2017 Keeneland September

Congrats on your two colts. Obviously you felt those numbers were fair, but did you have to stretch to get them in your mind? Too much money chasing the top horses these days. We're forced unwillingly to be primarily sellers vs buyers at the moment. Rick was pretty on target with these on what they...

Any idea who bought her? She was my favorite. Just too damn expensive.
We were on her. Went for more than we hoped. She's very nice.

Re: Songbird

The king is Tapit, so I would choose him in all likelihood if we were keeping her. I'd study it far more than I am now, which is just tossing out Tapit. ;-) It was interesting to see her stats once she got to the farm. I think many thought she's bigger than she is, which is 16 hands and 1088 pounds...

Who would've thought just a couple months ago that Arrogate may not win the Older Male. Hamlin ship.

Things can change in a heartbeat in horse racing.

Re: Songbird

I don't think they can do anything to stabilize, but don't think they need to if she's not in race training. Dr. BRAMLAGE said she's just fine to immediately go to paddock (normal letdown excepted).

Re: Songbird

At first, it was thought that we may not even have to miss her prep for the BC if it was only the suspensories. Usually you inject and give some shockwave treatments while you continue on. But as soon as he came back with the image of the bone, we were bracing ourselves for her being out the rest o...

Re: Songbird

Feel pretty bad for Mr. Porter. Having such great news about his own illness, followed shortly thereafter by having to retire his champion mare, must be a pretty big roller coaster of emotion to deal with. I hope he has yet another future champion filly warming up in the wings for another ride to t...

Re: Songbird

Meh news, but understandable. V, I really think you guys set the bar for how ownership interacts with the fanbase. It's always just enough info and always well put. Thanks, Som. I've never understood why so many are scared to be open about what is going on with their horses. I think it does the opp...
