Re: Eclipse Awards

I am FURIOUS that Martin's ridiculous, narcissistic blather did not allow for Art Sherman to have his moment in the sun. It's unlikely he'll ever have a another chance to speak as trainer of a HOY. I'm sure that all Jeannine et al wanted was to get that idiot off the stage, but I wish someone had s...

Re: Pegusus World Cup G1

Point Given is standing at Calumet Farm for $5,000.

Go Between, Sealy Hill and Coil were his top runners so far.

The Passing Of Glenn DiSanto

New York racing lost one of its favorite sons. I did not know him very well, but he was always very kind to me and I have many friends who were close to him. Never have I heard a negative comment about him. He loved horses and people and from the little I know he was willing to go out of his way to ...

Re: Pegusus World Cup G1

What is the purse breakdown right now? 1st $7 million 2nd $1.75 million 3rd $1 million 4th $250,000 5th $250,000 6th $250,000 7th $250,000 8th $250,000 9th $250,000 10th $250,000 11th $250,000 12th $250,000 This is how it stands now. The idea of bringing another $350k to the mix would likely raise ...

Re: Masochistic DQ'ed from BC Sprint

Interesting. Is it true that the Breeders Cup was well aware of potential issues in advance of the race? If true, I would think that they would also adopt a policy that any such knowledge should be made public to preseve the integrity of the product. Or have they adopted a policy where if they have ...

Re: Arrogate

Arrogate showed he could wire the field with ease in the Travers Stakes. Granted the track was playing pretty fast that day, but can he wire a field of better quality horses in a 9 furlong race? I think he can and I think Chrome would have trouble catching him even though he has shown he is a pretty...

Re: Classic Empire

Casse gets a lot of nice 2-year-olds (and yearlings) with huge price tags, and although he races some good ones, I'm doubtful of him keeping a horse sound and winning from 2 through the Classics. I know he trains Tepin, she'd win if the worst trainer in history trained her. I just seriously doubt h...

Re: Arrogate

Well, I see Arrogate as the favorite. I know Chrome's fans may have something to say about that (I am a fan of both horses), but he defeated Chrome without the best set-up for the race. If he had gone to the lead in the BC Classic, I think Arrogate wins by a greater margin. The 9 furlong cut back ma...

Re: Arrogate

I may be the lone one who didn't think that work looked all that great. My opinion and five bucks will buy a latte at Starbucks, but I agree with you, Admin. I can't quite put my finger on it, but there's something awkward about the way Arrogate moves in front. Maybe it's just the way his head and ...

Re: Arrogate

Do you think that a horse can tell when a jockey is riding him with confidence, or when a jockey is riding him differently than he has ever been ridden before? Victor looked like he was doing the best imitation of Linda Blair in the Exorcist with all the head turning going on that I have seen in som...

Re: Pegusus World Cup G1

We need new incentives for older horses. Maybe this is the start of whole new "Triple Cup" campaign. Breeders Cup November Pegasus Cup January Dubai World Cup March. Honestly, what a dream that would be. They have tried more than a few times to incentivise older horse series but it always seems to ...

I know it's a slow time of year but damn. Hopefully HOTY goes to Arrogate and shit really heacts up.
Ooh, hope not. Two graded stakes doesn't a Horse of the Year make.
I hear that. Not when they are plenty of other worthy candidates.

Re: Arrogate

Midnight Storm will skip the Pegasus pointing to the Dubai World Cup or the Santa Anita Handicap. http://live.drf.com/nuggets/34540 I wonder if our boy works today? I would imagine the track will have to be bone dry before he works again whether or not the weather was the chief reason for the scratc...

Re: NTRA Moment of the Year

Very tough. I picked Chrome's Dubai World Cup win. Until that moment, we did not know whether or not California Chrome would win another Group 1 race on dirt. He faced a stronger field than what was in the gate in 2015 including a talented Frosted, Special Fighter, Mshawish, Mubtaahij and Hoppertuni...

Re: Pegusus World Cup G1

I'd guess that Coolmore finally nixed the idea of running Highland Reel, or any of their other grass horses, in the Pegasus. Since they've already spent that $1 million for the spot in the gate, they might as well recoup some or all of their cost...and I suspect Juddmonte was the only one who both ...
