Re: 2019 Stallion Fees

Another factor behind some of these drops could be the financial environment. The stock market just had a huge drop, and the smart people advising the stallion managers at the big stud farms could be suggesting that we are going to have a bear market for a while, reducing the amount of money even ri...

Re: The VENT Thread

My grandparents retired to Florida, and eventually my mother moved down there to tend to my grandmother. I've visited Florida a number of times, and got very familiar with its immense bug population. So...not my favorite state. And my sister and I wasted no time getting our mom to move to SoC...

Oh yuck. That's horrible.
I hope the roaches weren't accompanied by their distant cousins, the bedbugs, in the linens on that bed.
I think I'd have slept on the floor...just in case.

Re: Siblings (and offspring) of well-known horses

Chasing Yesterday just won the Anoakia Stakes at Santa Anita. The half sister to American Pharoah was very determined running down the leader and getting that win. She may not be big, but she has heart. :D

Re: 2018 Pacific Classic @ Del Mar G1 $1MM

Isn't that an exaggerated example - a sprinter who never ran on grass vs. a stayer who never ran on dirt? :?
As has been pointed out, the Travers wasn't the first time Catholic Boy had run on - or won on - dirt. Pigeonholing him as strictly a 'turf horse' doesn't seem accurate, IMHO.

Re: Racing in Japan

Congrats to Almond Eye! That was a very impressive charge she made from the rear, coming wide down the middle of the course to sweep past the field.
Lord Kanaloa's fee might go up next year. :P ;)

Re: Racing in Japan

TVG is showing racing from Japan tonight, so I'm pretty sure they'll cover her race.

Re: Across the pond

Thanks for the link. Unfortunately, TVG didn't show the racing from Caulfield last night, concentrating only on Royal Randwick. As a result, I didn't see any of those races, which sound a bit too 'exciting' for the stewards' tastes. :(

Re: Australian Racing

That track is looking pretty ugly; the horses running before the Everest have chewed up big divots out of the boggy surface. :(
The Everest is going to be a sprint that requires some serious strength and stamina.

Re: Australian Racing

In Australia they have to be scratched by 8am local. Only exceptions are if it is a vet scratch or the track conditions change after scratching time It's raining there, and it sounded like the track could be becoming more heavy. If that's true, would that allow O'Brien to legally scratch US Navy Fl...

TVG's Candace Hare is on with her Aussie cohort Jason, and says the Randwick track is a Heavy 9 ATM. I wonder if US Navy Flag will be a late scratch, as Aiden has been pretty clear about his colt not doing well on heavy ground. :?
