Re: Great read - food for thought: Blame the Breeder

however, without claiming races, the stories of "we claimed the horse to save it" might go away, and more horses may be at risk - what horse was it that was recently claimed and retired, but the owner refused to sell and wanted to keep racing? now give them the option to keep running in low tier ra...

Re: Great read - food for thought: Blame the Breeder

friends who aren't horse racing fans have asked me, when i do get them to talk abt it, "what if your horse is good at that lower rank and hits the board often, but you don't want to sell it?" good question. however, without claiming races, the stories of "we claimed the horse to save it" might go aw...

i don't want her on this list, i didn't want her on any memorial list, but realism dictates otherwise.

Re: Accelerate vs Justify HOTY

There is no good argument for Accelerate. He will be forgotten as soon as his career ends. Only horse racing could be dense enough to pretend this is any type of debate at all. It reminds me of football fans who ignore the big picture and change opinion of every player and team every week. I rememb...

Wildfire burning through forty years of heavy, unburned brush pushed by tropical-storm-level winds, after years of drought? Yeah, it was a firestorm. There weren't fire trucks anywhere near my place when it went...and I wouldn't have ever wanted to put firefighters in front of that vicious onslaugh...

i'm on the keto diet to manage my blood sugar levels, as my liver is trying to push me into t2 diabetes. to help it, no extra sugar allowed - of any kind. what does the neighbour, who knows I can't have any starches or sugars for health reasons, do? brought over AN ENTIRE PIE and a bowl of macaroni ...

Re: The VENT Thread

does anyone else hate the holidays so much that if they had to choose between Keeping Up With the Kardashians and Justin Bieber, and celebrating the holidays, that they'd be able to tell you the girls' different fashion preferences and the musical direction changes in JB's albums, or is that just me?

From Baffert and Sadler: http://www.thoroughbreddailynews.com/so-whos-horse-of-the-year-baffert-sadler/ My take on it is that it is incredibly difficult to win the Triple Crown and he made it look easy. i don't think we watched the same preakness, i'll go rewatch it because i clearly missed somethi...

How long until Improbable is retired to stud? ;)
City Zip is not nearly as fashionable as Scat Daddy.
kind of a shame, CZ has really put his mark on the breed. are his sons not doing well at stud?

Re: Accelerate vs Justify HOTY

all that argument gives him is 3 yr old hoty, which he deserves since really, this crop had no exceptional standout (hard to beat a TC). hoty is open to all ages. since he didn't put on a hoty performance (stayed in restricted races and vanished after four months, 6 races, and 2 "wow we don't like t...

Re: Accelerate vs Justify HOTY

Accelerate looks wonderful... against the competition he was running against. Let's face it. If you wait until the better horses are retired, you must be the best out there. He couldn't beat them if he ran against them. Then the greed of the owners got Justify retired. Hand it to Accelerate's owner...

blame his race record on the absolutely baffling racing schedule and shipping he endured.
edit: oops, you said that. my bad. i agree, he was absolutely better than what he showed, and i'm impressed he menaged as well as he did.

Re: Accelerate vs Justify HOTY

if what accelerate did was easy, why haven't more horses done it? you're saying the TC is hard (and it is) but acting like it's the EXCLUSIVE hard thing in racing, when it isn't. it's just the one with the most publicity. and justify coming after AP so soon IS NOT THE ISSUE. you type a lot but you d...
