Re: 2018 foals

Many thanks to you both, and Ridan_Remembered, a special thanks for that photo. My late friend would have adored that filly, not least because of what she has gone through. If there is a heaven, that little one has a huge fan up there. And of course she can count on me to root her through whatever h...

Re: 2018 foals

I would like to thank everyone who has posted in this thread, either with information or photos or both. While I haven't posted, I have lurked every single day, just to keep updated. A few months ago, a very close friend died unexpectedly. This was her favorite time of year, when we see such promise...

Re: Fire at San Luis Rey!?

Ridan Remembered: in the grand scheme of things, your cat was your friend, part of your family, someone who helped make you the person you are. I am so very sorry about all the horses lost in the Lilac fire, but I am also sorry for your loss as well. Three years ago we had to have our cat euthanized...

Re: Songbird

Another note to say thank you for Songbird. It was easy to root for Songbird, not just because I love Eva Cassidy, but because this horse had such heart and such talent; it was a joy and a privilege to watch her race. I am sorry her career has come to an abrupt end, but I will always be grateful to ...

Re: In memoriam 2017

Absolutely beautiful remembrance of Better Talk Now by Maggie Kimmitt. Deepest condolences to everyone at Fair Hill, but also an enormous thank you to Graham Motion and his family and staff for giving Blackie not only the best of training, but also the kind of retirement we wish for all horses, ever...

Thank you so much for this compilation. Juddmonte mares are among my favorites, and I am not on Facebook, so this is very much appreciated.

Re: Songbird

If ever a race deserved to be a dead heat, it was this one. I'm a huge fan of both horses, and while I am happy that Beholder ended her career on a winning note, Songbird lost nothing in defeat. Sometimes you can lose a race and gain a ton of respect and a legion of new fans, and I think Songbird di...

Re: Foals of 2016

My sincere condolences to you, Mintano, about Lily, and to you, Genuinerizk, about your Catienus filly. Time will help heal your sorrow, but right now, it's devastating.

Mintano: that foal is adorable. And very, very special. If you can, please keep us updated on his progress.

A very Happy Birthday from me, as well. One of the truly great race mares of all time....I hope she got lots and lots and lots of her favorite peppermints on her birthday.

I'm especially excited about the Proud Citizen/Ms. Cornstalk filly. I was a huge fan of both Biofuel and the late Tu Endie Wei. Here's hoping their half sister runs as well as each of them. Many thanks for this info.

Jeff Wise has passed away

There are some people here who may be interested: Jeff Wise has passed away. He posted here as Jeff and at other places as Spajeff. He touched countless people's lives in a positive way, and he was truly one of the kindest and most compassionate people I've ever had the fortune to interact with. He ...

Re: Alan Rickman dead

Alan Rickman has long been one of my very favorite actors: what a shock to read about his death. While he is best known for Die Hard and the Harry Potter films, I loved him more in films like Truly, Madly, Deeply, Love Actually and Sense and Sensibility. Plus his work on stage was remarkable. RIP, M...

It's hard for me to find the words right now: stunned, shocked, heartbroken. Such a wonderful horse, such a gallant fighter. My condolences to all his connections: I cannot imagine how much they are hurting right now. This is just devastating.

Jill Jellison age 50. NE rider RIP. How very, very sad. I remember Jill Jellison very well from her days at both Rockingham and Suffolk: she was a very talented jockey. No matter what, 51 is just way too young to die. My sincere condolences to her family and friends. http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse...

Re: The 12th Triple Crown winner

Speaking personally, I was a lot more emotional than I ever thought I would be as the finish line got closer and closer. I liked him as a two year old, and my admiration and respect only grew this year. Still, as the Belmont grew nearer and nearer, I got more and more wary: so many things can go wro...
